Scientists Propose Jumpstarting Mars’ Magnetic Field to Make It Habitable.


We can safeguard humans on Mars from catastrophic atmospheric conditions by reactivating the planet's magnetic field, say scientists from top colleges and organisations, including NASA's chief scientist James Lauer Green.

Increasing atmospheric pressure over the Armstrong Limit, the barrier that allows humans to survive without a full-body pressure suit, is one of the initial goals of terraforming.

The scientists suggested a few ways to pull it off. These include creating a continuous solid loop or solid-state magnet loop, or employing a chain of connected sources with a controlled beam are some examples.

This means alternatives include hardware on Mars' surface and in orbit.
