STEP 3 of 251 Major Key improvisation : Learning to use 4 NOTE ARPEGGIOS (7th chord arpeggios) & arpeggio superimposition along with voice leading and approach notes/enclosures and triads to create licks/lines.
Here, I'm playing over a short ii-V-I in the key of C major - Dm7 , G7b9 | CM7 @110 bpm
Backing tracks and tabs have been created by me for this lesson.
Over Dm7 , I am using Dm7, Fmaj7 arpeggio.
Over G7b9 , I am using Abdim7 (Ab B D F). Ab = b9 here.
We are resolving to notes of C major7 - C E G B
I am also using approach notes and enclosures and good voice leading.
Techniques lick octave displacement and pivot arpeggios also used.
How to practise each lick -
1. Play it with different fingerings
2. play in in different positions on the freboard.
3. Practise in all 12 keys using the Circle of 4ths/5ths
4. Create rhythmic variations.
Gear -
Epiphone 339
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface
FL studio 20 DAW
Neural DSP archetype Plini X for the clean tone.
