We face enormous challenges: Global warming, scarcity of resources and social tensions will become existential threats if we do not get to solve them soon. Design as a solution-oriented and holistic principle can play a key role in shaping our world. Good design nowadays proves that budget restrictions, ethical principles, functional and logistical requirements can be combined to a solution that is in the interests of all. On our 3rd edition of the Democratic Design Day in Switzerland, we had a discussion around the process of Design and how it impacts not just the visual impact, but everyone and everything that is involved in the process of making it. In this video different speakers from the event wrap-up their take on how Design can be a part of the solution.
Speaker: Carlota Perez (researcher, lecturer and consultant), Michell Zappa (futurist and founder of envisioning), Leif Huff (IDEO partner), Simon Widmer (Manager Circular Design, Ellen MacArthur Foundation) and Simona Scarpaleggia (CEO IKEA Switzerland).
