This time, we have a client who seems to have a genuine grievance, and from that perspective he's entitled to his remedy. But he knows that while he can afford legal action, the legal action will be utterly ruinous for the other party, who is just some guy working out of the garage.
Should the client take this course of action? What value, principles and purposes suggest it is OK? What values, principles and purposes suggest it is not? Are there ethical non-negotiables at play? Which course of action would make the world a better place? What if everyone sued over everything? How is the character of the client - or the lawyer - affected by their decision-making here?
