This is an off-load tap changer at the high-voltage side in a 50kVA 3-phase transformer. The mechanism is first unlocked, then the knob is turned to change the tap position from one extreme setting to the other extreme, and the mechanism is locked. The transformer is de-energised and the top lid is removed to show the movement of the tap changer, which operates in transformer oil.
