PLEASE READ: (Lyrics & dialogue below) - Watch in HD for best experience...A wonderful song that describes Claire’s feelings at this time (I have so many planned songs that fit this time in story and have been eager to do at least one of them (for months) but needed to wait before season finale so I wouldn’t spoil anything for viewers who didn’t read the books. Those waiting on requests, I’ll do more on the next rounds of Outlander. :) … Vid follows lyrics, which tells their story so well. Loads of symbolism, told from Claire’s POV. Basically, she’s been forced to live a life she didn’t want and feels like a ghost now, never completely fitting in the century she’s in, or wanting to, and belonging to the past and the man who holds her heart from 200 years ago. Her happily “ever after” never came, since their life together was seized from her with Culloden. The green-tinged sepia frames depict the last few hours with him when color began to seep from her world with the knowledge that Culloden would transpire, she would lose Jamie in the battle he felt he must fight, and he would make her go back through the stones and to safety. Some color changes are a segue between centuries, but toward the end they grow fewer, depicting how she felt more and more like she was one of them – a ghost in a world that was now dust, since she had lived all of it, and that world, with Jamie, felt more real to her than her present. The silver tunnel of time rings around the clock that breaks – (showing time is about to change again for her) grow smaller and begin to fade as the time draws near for her to learn the truth and return to the past, and the very last clip showing them together signifies the memory of who they were along with her hope of who they will be again, once she again breaks the barriers of time to find her soul mate. Dialogue:
J: When I stand before God, I’ll have one thing to say to weigh against all the rest: Lord, you gave me a rare woman. God, I loved her well… Whatever happens, you’ll never be alone again…Now, we must go
C: No, I can’t leave you!
J: Claire, there’s no time!
J: To my wife, who’s always there when I need her … I want you to know, whatever happens, we’re going to get through this and make sure you’re safe.
C: I married another man, and I loved him deeply as his wife. I’m pregnant. It’s Jamie’s.
C: God, you’re so like him… He was the love of my life! …Now that I was here, the ghosts were starting to chase me.
J: I knew you belonged here, with me, ever since the first time I laid eyes on you
C: He was gone…they were all gone. The world I’d left only moments ago was now dust.
J: This child, this one, is all that will be left of me. Ever.
C: I love you
J: And I, you.
J: It has begun.
C: Blood of my blood
J: And bone of my bone
C: As long as we both shall live…
R: A Fraser of the master of Lovett’s regiment escaped execution.
B: James Fraser, my father
C: He didn’t die at Culloden. He survived! I have to go back... :’)
Lyrics to “I am Only One” performed by We are the Fallen
Memories fade into the silence,
Haunting me tonight,
With hope's last breath I take this moment in,
It will be the last.
Then morning breaks,
And sunlight takes the pain away.
Ever after never came,
And I'm still waiting for a life that never was,
CHORUS:
And all the dreams I lay to rest
Are ghosts that keep me,
After all that I've become,
I am only one.
I am only one.
I close my eyes and bleed this empty heart
Of all that longs to die,
When faces lie and love will falter,
I'm left with only time.
And time will break
The dreams that take the pain away.
Ever after never came.
And I'm still waiting for a love I'll never have,
CHORUS
I'm on my own here,
And no one's left to be the hero of
This fairy tale gone wrong
As night will fall, my heart will die alone.
Ever after never came,
And I'm still waiting for my heart to beat again,
CHORUS
