Being a foster parent can be a highly rewarding experience based on the growth that you experience
by helping a child who needed your help.

So here are a few ideas that can give you an idea of what it is like to be a foster parent:

1. It is a highly “unappreciated” role - If you are becoming a foster parent for the “kudos”,
DON’T do it. When a child is placed in your home, they do not want to be there. They want to be with their “family” regardless of the abuse that they suffered in that home.

This may sound insane but where these children have come from is all they know. And as human beings, we build walls around us no matter what our environment is like and we build our comfort zone within those walls.

2. It is a highly “rewarding” role - When you can make a positive difference in the life of another person, it makes ripples in their lives and the lives of the people they come in contact with.

Being a foster parent is a very challenging role and a very rewarding role that requires unconditional love.
