Why does my iPhone screen dim when I'm flying the DJI Mini 2? Here's a method to help keep your phone cool while flying.

DJI has updated the DJI Fly App repeatedly in the last few months and one feature they removed for iOS users is the option to turn OFF the phone charge feature. Now, the iPhone will constantly charge while connected to the DJI Fly App and this creates a real heat issue. The iPhone is already extremely busy during a flight and the constant charging seems to create an unreal amount of heat. iPhone has a built in safety feature so when the phone gets too hot, the screen will dim and may even go black. This creates a huge safety issue when flying a drone and we've experienced this numerous times during flights in the recent weeks. We think there's a way to help keep your iPhone cooler during a flight and that's what this video is about.

Now, understand this is not a solution for what causes the heat, it is simply a method to help keep your iPhone cooler during a flight so the screen doesn't dim quite as fast. We received a comment from Vanpstudios suggesting to place a small ice pack to the back of the phone when dealing with summer heat and the sun. We've tried this out and were pleasantly surprised by the results. Normally, after about 10 minutes into a flight, our iPhone 11 would dim the screen almost to the point it wasn't visible at all. After placing a small ice pack between the back of the phone and the DJI controller, we were able to fly beyond the 10 minute mark and the iPhone 11 did not go dim.

We bought a 6 pack of the small ice packs and provided a link below. Again, we want to say this is not a solutions, but a method to help regulate the heat build up while flying your DJI Mini 2 with an iPhone or iOS device.
