I am using multiple digital sculpting, modeling, and painting programs to create a landscape mock-up and then final painting. If, like most artists at one time or another, you are having a difficult time coming up with ideas, programs like these may help you get on your way. This painting is a good example. I had no idea what I was going to paint. So I went into Bryce Modeling Software and began playing with landscape compositions. Once I was relatively happy with that model, I created a PNG file and transferred it to Photoshop for sizing and editing purposes. Next, I imported the image to ArtRage, a wet canvas, wet brush paint program, where I converted the given digitized image, to a painterly one. Finally, I used Sculptrus, digital sculpting software to create the subject matter. It was only at this point, after the landscape mock-up was completed, that I began to have a good idea of what the painting was to be. Thereafter, I finished the painting in Photoshop.
