For this session we were incredibly excited to be joined for a masterclass by directing and acting coach Judith Weston, author of the seminal text 'Directing Actors', now released in its 25th Anniversary Edition. Her previous students include Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Ava DuVernay, Taika Waititi and Steve McQueen, amongst others.

Discussions included the key strategies of building a meaningful connection with your actors, the steps to break down a scene, how to prepare for casting sessions, and the best practices for rehearsing (including over Zoom!).

This event was part of BFI Future Film Festival 2022, the UK’s largest festival for young, emerging filmmakers.
