Country's biggest hoe down happened last night in Nashville; we've got your CMT Music Award winners roundup! Hey Country fans, welcome back to ClevverMusic. The 2012 CMT Music Awards were held last night in Nashville Tennessee at the Nashville Bridgestone Arena and fans saw one of the most varied shows as far as winners were concerned. The fan-voted award show was hosted by Kristen Bell and Toby Keith who entered via red solo cup. The action-packed night saw tons of surprises including Hot Chelle Rae mashing their hit "Tonight Tonight" with Lady Antebellum's "We Owned the Night," to open the show. The opening segment after the performance featured not only President Obama, but Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney as well as Hoda and Kathie Lee, Jon Bon Jovi, Maria Menounos and Mario Lopez, and more!
Leading the winners for the 2012 CMT Awards were some American Idol vets including Carrie Underwood who won "Video of the Year" for recent hit "Good Girl", as well as for "Collaborative Video of the Year" with Braid Paisley for "Remind Me." 'Idol' Winner Scotty McCreery won "USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year" for "The Trouble With Girls", while 'Idol' runnerup Lauren Alaina presented, performed, and monitored the "Twitter Tracker" during the show.
"Male Video of the Year" went to Luke Bryan for the very first time for, "I Don't Want This Night To End," and "Female Video of the Year" went to fan favorite Miranda Lambert for the 3rd consecutive year with touching song "Over You."
Other trophy winners included Lady Antebellum with their third consecutive win for "Group Video of the Year" with "We Owned The Night", and Jason Aldean winning "CMT Performance of the Year" for "Tattoos on This Town". Buckle newcomers, Thompson Square walked away with their first-ever buckle for "Duo Video of the Year" for "I Got You".
We love that so many artists were recognized at the show- but noticeably absent was Country megastar Taylor Swift! Tell us if you think Taylor was snubbed, and if you think Carrie Underwood should have Won Video of the Year? Subscribe to ClevverMusic for all your music news daily. Bye!
