Caught and Arrested! Identity Fraud at Car Dealership
On October 18, 2022, officers from the Chamblee Police Department were dispatched to the Landmark Atlanta dealership following a report of a suspicious pair trying to buy a car with fake IDs. When the police arrived, they encountered the couple and asked for their IDs, only to be told that neither of them had any identification on them. The pair also claimed they had just met the previous day and denied any involvement in the alleged fraud.
Seeing the potential seriousness of the situation, the police detained the two for a closer look. During a search of the woman's bag, they found several counterfeit identification documents. Further investigation led the man to admit that the Mercedes they came in was owned by the woman, prompting a detailed search of the car. This search turned up more fake IDs and social security cards.
Understanding the severity of their discoveries, the officers arrested both individuals and took them to the DeKalb County jail. They are now facing charges related to identity theft, possession of counterfeit IDs, and other associated crimes.
