Tesla's Berlin Gigafactory is finally shipping out cars after a 265-day delay and delivered 30 cars according to a press release by Tesla to Business Insider.
Tesla Giga Berlin EV plant is Tesla's first in Europe, and key to the company's expansion plans. Tesla said in a press release sent to Insider it is hoping to eventually produce 500,000 vehicles per year at the new Gigafactory.
Tesla said it delivered 30 Model Y vehicles on its first day of production.
After almost two years of construction, the Tesla factory is scheduled to open on Tuesday. Celebrities from state and federal politics are expected to attend the celebration. Elon Musk wants to hand over the first cars personally, L. Heisterkamp and M. Krauss report on Brandenburg's public radio RBB.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has already landed in Schönefeld with his jet. This was tweeted Monday via the account "Elon Musk's Jet," which tracks the routes of Musk's private jet. After all, Tuesday is the big day: the Tesla factory in Grünheide (Oder-Spree district) is to be officially opened.
