This was totally me every five minutes while watching Severance. But I binge-watched the last few episodes last night and then spent roughly two hours doing some research, and it all finally makes sense. It's one giant allegory for the conscious and subconscious minds, and the different kinds of relationships that people have to them. Within the context of the show, it seems to be about the insane lengths that the Eagan family will go to in order to clone themselves so they can "live" forever. Scroll down to the bottom of this description box for a few hidden clues you might not have caught.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!
Irving's outtie lives in a place called Leonora Lake, and I'm not sure if anyone else noticed that the second female CEO of Lumon was named Leonora. Also, I looked up Ambrose on a baby name site (Ambrose was the black sheep of the Eagan family, according to Irving) and it said it means "he is immortal". I mean, HELLO?!? One more thing: how the hell (no pun intended) did Irving know about that elevator where Miss Casey went? He's not one of the people that live there in that comatose state like she does. Has he seen it before? If so, how and why doesn't his innie remember it?
