If you are going to transfer a person directly from the bed to the evacuation mattress, this video can help out.

There are several reasons why you would transfer someone directly from the bed:

- Using bed sheets to evacuate the patient is time-consuming and can cause secondary injuries

- When there's too little space in the room to evacuate the patient or resident with the bed mattress.

- The doorposts are too narrow to evacuate with the mattress (if you would have an evacuation sheet installed underneath the mattress)

- If the hygiene policy of your facility states that you can't place an evacuation sheet underneath a mattress.
