An arctic blast of cold air and multiple snowstorms will impact large portions of the country throughout this week. Much of the northern half of the country will see snow (some getting over 1ft+) including the Northwest, Midwest, and even parts of the southeast. Perhaps the even bigger story when it comes to precipitation is the significant ice that will accumulate all the way from Texas, through the Ohio Valley, and to the East Coast. That ice is being promoted by freezing cold air with temperatures at times getting 30 below zero. Over a widespread region, temperatures will remain 30-40 degrees below average for most of the next two weeks. The weather forecast has changed significantly for California as well. Last week, the models showed nothing but warm air and sunshine for a couple weeks, and now it appears a number of storms are on the horizon. The key states with the most exciting weather that we'll be diving into include California, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina.
