Phillip Sear plays a wistful piece by the Georgian composer Vaja (or Vajha) Azarashvili (ვაჟა აზარაშვილი, 1936–2024 ).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Azarashvili trained at the Vano Sarajishvili State Conservatory of Tbilisi, and, from 1971, taught there. From 1998 to 2007 he chaired the Georgian Composers' Union. He wrote in many genres, but seems to be popular today in former Soviet bloc countries, and in the Far East, for one or two lighter pieces (this one and a Nocturne in particular), and for a cello concerto. There are other recordings of this piece on YouTube (it has also been arranged for orchestra) but the piano ones I have heard are too fast - after all, the piece is marked 'andante', and could be taken even slower than I play it. You can see a detailed (2014) biography of the composer here: [ Ссылка ] - and the picture on the thumbnail comes from that webpage.
