Fans of the Evil Dead franchise will be excited to hear that Bruce Campbell made a cameo appearance in Evil Dead Rise. In the film, Campbell's voice can be heard in one of the records that Danny listens to, urging the characters to, "Destroy it! It's called the Book of the Dead for a reason!" Director Lee Cronin hinted at Beyond Fest that Campbell's character, Ash, may have traveled back in time and encountered the evil book once again. This is a nod to the series' history of time-traveling and encounters with the Naturom Demonto / Necronomicon Ex-Mortis.
