Silke Mader had never even heard about a condition called pre-eclampsia until she was admitted to the hospital because of severely high blood pressure and having protein in the urine. She had several pre-eclampsia risk factors, like being pregnant for the first time and carrying twins. However, she was not informed about those risks. Her twins, a boy named Lukas and a girl named Lena, were born at week 25 weighing only 515g and 290g. Silke came close to dying, but was resuscitated and spent 3 days in the intensive care unit.
