Been looking into speedrun related things for Cuphead (specifically individual levels and any%) and came across this. You can skip the final phase of the dragon boss fight if you deal enough damage before the start of phase 4. For the IL you want 2 eye attacks followed by a single eye attack, then a fireball attack for an optimal pattern. Assuming you don't do parries and don't have coffee equipped, phase 4 would normally begin when you have around 3.75 cards. Ideally you want the dragon to do its fire ball attack when it's close to being put into phase 4 so that you can maximize your damage. In addition to that, you can still attack the dragon on the right side of the screen, even though it looks as if it's flying in the background. If you deal enough damage to put the dragon into phase 5 while it's in the background, you'll get the result you see in this video. If you deal enough damage to put the dragon into phase 5 after it reappears, it'll be locked into whatever position it's in at the time of enough damage being dealt (this will make it so you don't have to worry about the fire squad jumping at you, but is technically slower). Regardless of which one you get, making direct contact with the dragon will not hurt you, and you can continue to deal damage to it. This is definitely viable in an any% setting. Enjoy! ^_^
