Loyalist demonstrators hurl a petrol bomb into an unmarked police vehicle on Monday night as tensions continue to flare in Northern Ireland.
A Belfast policewoman guarding the offices of death threat MP Naomi Long was lucky to escape uninjured after loyalists broke windows on her car and threw a petrol bomb inside.
Police are treating the attack as attempted murder.
Eight nights of violence have followed Belfast City Council's decision to reduce the number of days it flies the Union flag on City Hall. The cross-community Alliance Party of which Ms Long is a member has been targeted after it agreed to the measure.
"Clearly we've had an attempted murder on a female colleague. What can I say except I am very angry, I am saddened that the future of young people is being put at risk and I call upon everybody now to join with us in calming this down," said Chief Constable Matt Baggott of the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
