do you need to add a heatsink to your m.2 ssd
in short ...NO
however , if you have ever touched a running m.2 ssd, you will feel how hot it gets, and as we know with heat and pc parts, if it gets too hot , it can cause a crash or even damage the components
which bring me to my next questions
should you add a heatsink ,...yes

cooling = better performance , thus prolonging the the lifespan of your pc parts
there are many types of heatsinks and covers available for m,2 ssd just a matter of choosing what you like and want

you may even notice that the higher end and more exspensive mobos, already have the heatsink covers fitted, so all you need to do is unscrew peel and stick , and it will cool your m.2 as you run your pc

this tells me that its always better to cool your m.2 drive rather then just leaving it bare
