You may have seen in the news today about the Court case to decide if wild camping on an area of Dartmoor is to be banned. The area in question is 11 sq km and it has been ruled that wild camping on this section is now not allowed unless there is direct permission from the land owner.
there is still 287 sq km of land on the Dartmoor National Park where wild camping is permitted but with land owned by several different people including the Duchy of Cornwall, there may in the future be similar rulings to ban wild camping in these areas. This is the doubt of many wild campers and the right to roam and wild camp was only ever assumed to be the case according to the Judge in todays hearing.
