JENO JANDO plays "R. W. Venezia S.201" by FRANZ LISZT. This piece was written in 1883 after the death of Liszt's son-in-law Richard Wagner. Their relationship was complicated towards the end of both of their lives. Strong personal disagreements and Wagner's criticisms of Liszt's latest compositions caused and ensured their quarrel. Liszt however never los hist respect for Wagner despite his disagreements with lots of his son-in-laws views, which is why he wrote two pieces about his passing, one of them being this work. Their last meeting was in Venice in 1882.
