Obi-Wan Kenobi had discovered the clone army on Kamino and the Separatist summit on Geonosis, forcing Darth Sidious to adapt his plans. The key to the downfall of the Jedi would be their trust in the clone army. Geonosis, with its droid factories, provided the perfect opportunity for the Jedi to see they could rely on this new military force. Second, Padme Amidala’s death at the hands of Count Dooku would not only eliminate her opposition in the Senate; it would also increase the Republic’s animosity towards the Separatists. Lastly, he had the opportunity to blur the lines between fear and love in Anakin Skywalker’s attachment to Padme, filling the Jedi with anger and rage, emotions Sidious could exploit at the right time. While Dooku oversaw these developments, his top priority was to keep the Republic from discovering the plans for the Death Star.
