This is the 4"/50cal round (spoken 4-inch 50 caliber) like the one fired from the USS Ward's number 3 gun at the Japanese midget submarine that was outside of Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7th, 1941. This would be the first shot fired in anger by the U.S. in World War II. The two Japanese sailors (still entombed as of 2024) became the first enemy casualties for the United States. This first combat engagement occurred just a few hours prior to the Japanese carrier aircraft attack on Pearl Harbor.
This was a fixed round of ammunition, meaning that the projectile would have been crimped into the cartridge case when it was loaded at the arsenal. The round shown in the video is completely inert/empty. The 4-inch projectile measures 102mm and the overall length of the round was about 48-inches or 1220mm! An extremely rare round to find these days.
