Friends, grab a pencil and get ready for three questions all
grandparents would be wise to ponder as we consider our legacy:
First, what values are we seeking to transmit? Be intentional about establishing and reinforcing what’s most important to you as you interact with your grandchildren.
The second question is this: How are we helping our grandchildren grow and mature toward adulthood? Are there skills you can teach, or experiences you can give them that might be meaningful or open up new possibilities for their future?
And third, is your grandparenting transformational? This one sums up the other two in some ways, but it’s a key question.
Grandparenting is fun and rewarding, but it should also involve regular efforts to build a legacy that’s lasting and meaningful.
Remember, there’s plenty more great tips and encouragement online at grandsmatter.org.
