If the phone icon is missing from your android device then what you do is:
1. Go ahead and open "Settings".
2. Select "Display".
3. Select "Home screen".
4. Then select "Hide apps".
5. Scroll down and look for phone. Now make sure that you don't have this tick mark in this check box. If it is remove it and then select "Apply".
6. Now if you go back to your android screen you will see this phone icon again.
7. If you want to bring this phone icon on the home screen, then tap and hold this phone icon and then drag and drop here.
So, once you do it the phone icon will appear on the home screen.
