nbn Fibre to the Node/Building (FTTN/B) explained - national broadband network
FTTN and FTTB are nbn technologies that use existing copper phone lines.
A fibre optic cable runs to a local node in your area, and then an existing phone cable carries
the connection from the node to your home. Think of the node as a location somewhere in
your suburb where all the networking cables meet.
FTTN and FTTB connections require a VDSL modem that plugs into a standard telephone
wall socket inside your home.
