Why calling landlords is harder than it seems like:
Have you ever tried calling a landlord before?
Picture this:
You own a home and you’ve listed it on Zillow for rent / buy.
20+ calls hit your phone by either 1) real estate agents or 2) people pitching you Airbnb’s or 3) insurance companies or 4) property management companies.
EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Someone telling you something along the lines of:
“Hey!! This is Preston with company XYZ. I’m calling to either lower to try lowering the price of your home or pitch you my services”
A few weeks go by and now you’ve built bulletproof pattern recognition in your head.
And the moment you hear someone saying “Hey, this is NAME from company XYZ” you instantly hang up the phone as you assume the caller will waste your time.
Well… that’s exactly what’s going on with landlords (so-called leads) on popular websites such as zillow.com, realtor.com, trulia.com for example.
As a landlord myself, I can totally speak this from experience.
I’ve heard multiple people pitching Airbnb’s having nightmares when cold calling landlords.
You call 100 landlords.
70 of them don’t pick up because they’re already pissed.
20 pick up only to hang up a few seconds after they realize you’re not offering what they want.
10 tell you to go to h*ll after wasting 5 minutes of their time.
So, how do you make landlords listen to your pitch and say yes? …EVEN after all this abuse from other callers and competitors?
