A lovely ballad from 1934 by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, it's considered a jazz standard.
SONG LYRICS:
Blue moon you saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Blue moon, you knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for
And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper "Please adore me"
And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold!
Blue moon!
Now I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
What a lovely piece. This has been sung by so many great artists.
The first ones were Billy Eckstine and Mel Tormé. The Marcels gave it justice too. And what about Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, The Platters, The Mavericks, Dean Martin, Yvonne De Carlo and later Cyndi Lauper, The Supremes, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart and of course Bing Crosby?
