Aim was to see if I could get my micro sized drone to move around within a trees canopy and use its propellers to cut/sample leaves.
Tough eucalyptus leaves proved too tough for the propellers, got a few down but not that successful. Will try a few cutting attachments next.
Even given the wind it was possible to control the drone in relatively small spaces and target specific groups of leaves. The flight controller seemed to cope well with the contact and was able to compensate.
Drone weighed less than 250g, runs a Naze32 flight controller running Betaflight with Horizon mode on for stability. Propeller tip to tip measures 230mm.
Propellers are stubby ABS plastic, not very efficient but robust enough not to shatter on contact.
