I am so disappointed in my ability to connect with the YouTube audience - this tune is amazing in a lot of ways. This was a collaboration with the great bass player Fred Chalenor, and it is ALL played in real time (with the exception, I guess, technically speaking, of the few backwards bits, but still, nothing was sped up and no guitars or basses were midi) - and not only that but Fred DOUBLED my part, and you can hear him doing it. In fact, if you had been there during the recording, you would have heard almost the whole tune live.
At the time, we called the tune “Rip Van Winkle”, and that’s what my recordings from the session are titled, but then I used it with this video and when that failed to get any views at all, the whole thing just faded into history - this is criminal, IMO. Fred is a great bass player, and I have never heard anybody do what he did here; I used the old country echo thing that Albert Lee had done before, but then Fred picked it up and did it too, but on the bass.
This is a brand new, bigger sized remix, so it looks a lot better than YouTube's puny 360p version that they made out of the first one.
So all you people who didn’t see this thing never knew what you were missing. Well, that’s bleedin’ life in the modern world, isn’t it. Shit.
