Intellectuals – the chattering classes of academia, journalists, commentators, artists, etc. – are drawn to socialism like moths to a flame. Why?
Following up on the previous week’s video on “Pundits’ Poor Predictions”, this week’s “What Would Hayek Say?” looks at Hayek’s thoughts on intellectuals (the broader category to which pundits belong), who they are and what defines them as a class. A deeper understanding of what it is that they do and how they think will help you understand why it is that socialism, with all of its utopian promises, is such an attractive ideology to them.
