Founded in 1835 and operating as the world's oldest continually operating streetcar line in the world, the St. Charles Line is a fantabulous ride on the rails of history. The actual cars are close to 100 years old if not older. For only $1.50 one way, riders get to experience the busy Canal St, downtown New Orleans, and the more sedate areas outside of the city along St. Charles Ave. We pass massive and palatial mansions, 2 famous universities, shops, restaurants, and bars before arriving in Carrollton where the car turns around. The cars are dark green in color. This is one of the best ways to see New Orleans. And cheap to boot!
