Health anxiety is an anxiety disorder that causes us to fear and then become consumed with uncomfortable or unusual physical sensations, leading us to think we have a severe medical condition. In some cases, even normal physical changes and sensations can feel distressing as we try to make meaning out of why they are happening.
Of course, it's normal to worry about physical symptoms we might develop, but those with health anxiety experience this worry on another level, leading to these worries interfering with their life.
