Dr. David Bell, Chair of Learning for a Sustainable Future opened the What’s Worth Knowing: Educating for the 21st Century Green Economy Symposium with a call to action. He described the green economy as more than just waste management, cutting carbon emissions and transportation. It is about transforming the economy for a more sustainable future. He referenced the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Vision 2050 Report in which they indicated that we would need 2.3 more earths to support 9 billion people with current business and economic practices. This is clearly not sustainable. We need to figure out how to change course. Learning for a Sustainable Future (LSF) is working toward the goal of creating a sustainable future through education.
