The Rotas Caminháveis project in Niteroí, Brazil, started in the neighbourhood of Barreto. Children and the community actively participated in the redesign of the routes, suggesting safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists, more greenery and colourful walls and sidewalks.
In this video you can see how children’s perspectives and ideas improved a route that connects schools, green public spaces and other services in the city.
The Rotas Caminháveis project (walkable routes) is carried out by the city of Niterói, in partnership with Urban95.
