This 15 mins Pilates Morning Stretch For Women Beginners 50+ is gentle yet invigorating and will stretch and strengthen the spine, hips, low back, buttocks and back of the legs safely, without aggravating any existing osteoporosis condition.
Unlike many Pilates classes which require a lot of spinal flexion (contra-indicated if you have osteoporosis), I show you safe modifications to keep the spine in either neutral or extended position so this practice is osteoporosis safe AND strengthening for the bones too!
Women are more at risk of developing osteoporosis than men because the hormone changes that happen at the menopause directly affect bone density. Low oestrogen is essential for healthy bones and as it rapidly decreases during and after the menopause, it leads to a rapid decrease in bone density.
Many women are unaware of bone loss as there are often no symptoms - the chances are, if you're going through menopause, you will be at risk.
