Trump's first impeachment - 2020
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Tuesday sharply criticized Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s rules governing the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. McConnell’s resolution, which senators are debating on Jan. 21, “will result in a rushed trial with little evidence in the dark of night. Literally in the dark of night,” Schumer said. Based on the resolution, each trial session is expected to continue into the early hours of the morning. Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December on two articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Senate will now decide whether to convict Trump of those charges and remove him from office, or acquit him.
