Taxco de Alarcon, usually just called Taxco, is a small hillside town just a few hours southwest of Mexico City. It’s claim to fame was it’s booming silver industry, even being called the silver capital of the world. But the silver mines aren’t the only reason to visit Taxco. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico, and there is so much to do and see there that I couldn’t even fit it all into one video (and I only spent two full days there!). Today I’ll show you some of Taxco’s most breathtaking views, wander the cobblestone streets lined with whitewashed buildings topped with red tile roofs, watch the Semana Santa festivities, and try one of Taxco’s specialty dishes, pozole blanco.
For me, Taxco is an absolute must stop if you are visiting anywhere nearby. You can even do day trips from Mexico City (I would REALLY recommend spending a few days though!). You can check out tour options from GetYourGuide here:
