DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REGISTERED ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST - HOSPITAL SETTING | WORK FLOW AND TIME MANAGEMENT, HOW WE GET THINGS DONE IN A LARGE HOSPITAL
Hellooooo YouTube fam, welcome back to the channel, SO happy to have you back! If you are new here, thank you so much for clicking on this video, my name is Geselle and I am a Disney obsessed Ultrasound Technologist/ Sonographer. I work in a hospital setting and many of you have been asking what it’s like to work there, so I like to bring you, vlog style, to work with me at least once a month, answering your questions! As always, these videos are comprised on down time and no personal patient information is disclosed. I appreciate YOU for being here and for checking out this video!!!
This video is mainly about what you can expect working in a hospital: how we handle exams in a hospital setting and how long it can take you to do an exam. (DISCLAIMER: ALL HOSPITAL SIZES VARY. PROTOCOLS, SITUATIONS, WORKLOADS WILL BE DIFFERENT DEPENDING WHERE YOU WORK. THIS IS SOLELY BASED OFF OF MY EXPERIENCES.)
Hospital settings can be very challenging, busy, and stressful, but a lot of times it is what you make of it. The hospital exams we do include inpatients (med surge, ICU, trauma, oncology, rehab, burn unit), OR patients, ER patients, outpatients, and procedures. My hospital even has a labor & delivery, NICU, and PICU. These patients do not want to come to the hospital, they HAVE to come to the hospital. Most of the time they are in a lot of pain or have worries and concerns. So treat everyone with kindness, for you don’t know what they are going through. I hope this brings you an insight to what we do, how much work there actually is in the field, and how it’s not just scanning patients but also taking care of them and their needs at the same time. You MUST have bedside care/ manners to be in this field. We work directly with patients whom we must empathize with on the daily. If you have any other questions, comments, or concerns, don’t hesitate to leave a comment below! I love talking to you guys!
