Appraisers look at a lot of things when they inspect a property. The most common are smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and the water heater being braced correctly.
Depending on the type of loan you get, they may dig a little deeper, such as not having chipped paint (yes I said it) or any visible defects. (mainly FHA and VA loans)
