A ship attacked by Yemen's Houthi rebels has sunk in the Red Sea after days of taking on water, officials said.
The vessel sank on Saturday at around 2:15am local time.
The Belize-flagged Rubymar was hit by a missile fired by the rebels on February 18th while sailing through the Bab-el-Mandeb.
A leader for the Houthis claimed British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the UK Government were responsible for the sinking.
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi said their support for the “genocide” and “siege” in Gaza bear the responsibility for Rubymar.
US Vice President Kamala Harris called for an “immediate ceasefire” so that humanitarian aid could be delivered to Gazans.
But she claimed that Hamas is refusing to accept a deal that will grant a temporary end to the war.
The sinking of the Rubymar has raised concerns of disastrous ecological damage to the Red Sea and its coral reefs.
