Indeed, since patch 1.10 the Hand of Malenia is breaking poise with its magnificent and mesmerizing ash of war, watefowl dance !
Hence it will now trap you in a vortex of eternal pain and suffering !
May baby Jesus have mercy on you if you get stuck in it !
But is that enough to make the Hand of Malenia a broken weapon ?

In our most viewed video, the Katana tier list, we ranked The Hand Of Malenia in the A tier. Being the 2nd longest katana in the game, with high damage made this weapon top tier for sure. But compare to nagakiba and moonveil, this weapon doesn’t have what it take to be considered S tier.
And the main problem was its ash of war, which was more of a detriment than anything else because you could poise through its attacks.

However today is not the day before tomorrow, what the fuck am I even saying ! Who wrote this script ?!
With patch 1.10 waterfowl dance will poise break you on its first hit and trap you in a combo with follow up L2 for about 1500 damage, which is for most people 3 quarters of their health. If we add on top of that the buff to hyper armor, waterfowl dance is also now giving a very nice hyper armor, just look at the background footage.
However, this attack is very very very very telegraphic, I mean you can see it coming from a mile away, in what concerns duel at least. For in invasion it is another story, I’m sure that when you are dealing with 3 people shooting projectiles at you and one of them is spamming waterfowl dance like a dumbass, then you’re pretty much fucked and proceed to go on reddit to complain about the weapon.
But lets be honest, in invasion you’re pretty fucked no matter what you are doing. Who wanna do invasions in 2023 ? Are there some maniacs among the people watching this video who likes to do invasions ? let me know

hence despite having now a usable and powerful ash of war, the Hand of Malenia will remain in the A tier for now. I am even going to call for a nerf, because there is no reason why the weapon should trap you for the follow up attacks. its already very good to poise break on the first hits, no need to take all of the health of your opponent in 1 combo.
Also if anything needs to be nerfed it is powerstanced nagakiba which are just absurd especially with the ash of war spinning slash. But this is a video for another day.
