Thank you for joining me today to talk about Dog Park by Birdwood Games. This is their first Kickstarter game and they’ve created something really special.
Dog Park is a light-mid weight game for 1-4 players rated for ages 10+ and plays in about 40-80 minutes. It combines set collection, resource management, auction/bidding and point to point movement.
It has a really lovely relaxing feel to gameplay, like a real stroll in the dog park, while also having a nice depth of strategy hidden beneath to explore.
In this game you’ll be competing for victory points by adding dogs to your kennels and taking proper care of them through regular walks through the dog park. It sounds simple to explain, but there is a lovely combination of ways to achieve points.
A game of Dog Park is played over four rounds which are split into four phases. There is the recruitment phase where you bid for dogs to add to your kennel, the selection phase where you choose which of your dogs to walk, the walking phase where you well, walk your dogs, and gain certain resources or abilities based on locations and finally home time where you adjust your points and return your dogs to the kennels.
