NETBALL
It hasn't been a good start for Australia in the Constellation Cup. The Diamonds went down 56 to 48 to the Silver Fernsat the tournament's opening game in Auckland.
New Zealand got off to a hot start and never really looked like losing. It's the first time the two teams have met since The Commonwealth Games where Australia brought home the gold.
RUBY THE ROO
Introducing Ruby Roo! This computer-generated cartoon kangaroo has just made its public debut, for tourism Australia's new campaign, "Come and Say Gday!". It's Australia's first global campaign, since COVID. And it's also Australia's first computer generated mascot. The point of a tourism mascot is to capture the attention of people from around the world In the hopes that they'll decide to take a holiday here. But some folks reckon this new CGI roo just isn't cutting the mustard. They say it's cheesy, unoriginal and aimed at kids. Others say Ruby the Roo is instantly recognisable and friendly! Warm. And encapsulates what the Aussie spirit's all about.
FAT BEAR
Give it up for our 2022 Fat Bear Week champ 747! Over the past week more than a million people around the world have voted for their favourite fat bear at Alaska Katmai national park. And It came down to these two. At the end of the day 737 took home the big prize with more than 60,000 votes, weighing an estimated 635 kg!
