Triopetra is located 50 km south of Rethymno and 100 km southwest of Heraklion.
It is the central part of wider seafront, called Akoumia. At the east edge of Triopetra beach there is the highlight of the beach, a small peninsula with three iconic stones rising in the sea, which give the name to the beach. Around the peninsula with three stones are interesting geological formations and a cave.
Triopetra is wide and long sandy beach with beautiful crystal-clear sea of captivating blue colour. The beach is partly organised with sun beds and parasols for rent but due to its huge size there is also a lot of free space.
Several tavernas can be found along the beach. Further to the east there is a smaller beach called Mikri Triopetra i.e. Small Triopetra.
