A conference focused on doing business in a good and sustainable way has kicked off in Cape Town. The first Sustainable Brands Conference in Africa brings together sustainability specialists from around the globe to interact with creative branders. In a world where water and food security is not guaranteed, and waste is becoming increasingly problematic, branders are under pressure to show consumers that they care. Around 80 speakers are covering topics including water, supply chains, climate change, waste and the green economy. Former Finance Minister, Trevor Manuel, opened the event on Saturday, calling on companies to up their game and go beyond ticking boxes on sustainability reports. He also called for better laws to deal with endangered species and forests.
