For the first time in over 3 centuries, Ukraine has celebrated Christmas with its own independent church, free from Moscow rule. Tomos, the document declaring that independence, was granted to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on January 6th by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholemew. And on January 7th, the Orthodox Christmas, at St. Sophia Cathedral, the decree was presented and a holy liturgy was held. To talk more about the meaning of this historic event for Ukraine, we welcome to the studio Viktor Yelensky, Ukrainian MP and religious scholar.
